Venturi Version 2.1 Adds Clientless Component to its Integrated Bandwidth Management Platform

Santa Clara, CA (May 7, 2002) Venturi Wireless, the leading global bandwidth management platform provider, today announced the release of Venturi 2.1, which brings a new "Clientless" module to the company's technology platform. This added feature allows Venturi to be deployed on networks where installing the Venturi Client is not practical, or not possible. Venturi provides up to 10x acceleration of data delivery over any wide area network and significantly slashes bandwidth costs. The integrated platform enables the deployment of server-only and/or client-server architecture, offering great versatility for wireless carriers, service providers and enterprises.

With Version 2.1's new server-only functionality, companies can experience the benefits of Venturi quickly, without deploying the Venturi Client software. The Clientless module significantly accelerates Web browsing, improves bandwidth efficiency and optimizes the network by alleviating back-end traffic. Venturi Version 2.1 also optimizes HTTP 1.1, enables server-only compression and decompression, caches frequently accessed objects, supports FTP downloads through a Web browser and its "refresh" feature will load uncompressed images when possible. The new module uses distributed caching, acts as a transparent proxy and can be turned on or off by the customer's network administrator.

Although Venturi Version 2.1's Clientless module is fast and effective for specific network requirements, Venturi Wireless's complete client-server solution provides the added benefits of increased reliability and security, and maximum performance of all Web and TCP/IP applications through content-specific compression and Reliable UDP protocol optimization. By deploying both the Venturi Client and the Venturi Server, customers will gain total advantage of Venturi Wireless's bandwidth management technology. The complete client-server solution includes load balancing, redundancy, radius authentication, statistics and diagnostics.

Venturi is an integrated platform that offers ultimate flexibility and versatility to customers by allowing them to deploy either 1) a client-server solution, or 2) a server-only solution, or 3) both solutions simultaneously.
